Midst of Prelims

Posted in Uncategorized on September 19, 2005 by caleb.

I so want to update but I’m so lazy :) Prelims have been…umm…okay so far. Been listening to alot of new music (okay, not really new but I just haven’t actually listened to it). I like Gratitude. I’m not really sure what their genre is, because of a wide spectrum of styles their playing encompasses. (I guess I’m not cut out to be a music critic.) I guess I’ll just go for them anyway.

PIE Night

Yesterday was fun. Prelim English Paper 1 was in the morning. Nothing much, it was ok I guess. I went home to rest before heading back to school for PIE night setup. It was fun. We finished setup and had a late lunch at 3:30pm. Proceeded to tape the cables down, so no unsuspecting person would trip over them and fall, thereby embarrassing themselves in front of parents and teachers alike. After that, we went over to Dover to buy snacks and drinks. We returned to school for dinner, which none of us finished because we had lunch too late and it was kinda unappetising anyway. Then up to hall for a final check. We played ultimate masking tape. That idiot Spencer can’t aim for nuts. Audrey and I agreed to kope the heart balloons around the hall and give them to Ms Liang. Sadly, an accident happened, of which I will blog about later.

The show then began, after what seemed like a Ms Lim speech that lasted for close to eternity (OK actually it was 25 minutes) Band performance and choir and so on. Almost scolded these two band people coz they were making too much noise behind the curtains. Thankfully they stopped when I gave them a black face the same shade of black as my jacket that night. Then, MAJOR SCREWUP! The gift presentation for parents was on. The table with the prizes was supposed to be moved up outside the curtains so they could be closed for us to prepare the guitar amps for the next presentation. They didn’t move it out sufficiently and the curtains could not be shut. So how? Thankfully there was sufficient time to move the amps into place after the gifts presentation and all still went well. Apparently we were all abit high and Joseph thought he was a ballerina and showed us his moves behind the curtain. HA! We caught one of them on film. Blackmail…hehe. Show finished, we all went out to kope balloons. We managed to take 4 for Ms. Liang. Audrey gave one away and we gave the remaining three to Ms. Liang. She took them and apparently tied them to her table. Later, she told us some other teachers took them and popped them when she wasn’t around. So sad. Oh well. Packed up, took a group photo and went home to catch some ZZzzz…

Teachers’ Day

Posted in Uncategorized on September 1, 2005 by caleb.

It’s been awhile…
Today’s Teachers’ Day. Yesterday our school held a concert to celebrate this event. It went quite well. There were performances by GB and drama among others. BUT, that wasn’t the main highlight of the day. We err… had something planned for Ms Liang. Something…umm…not too straightforward. She had to kinda “earn” her teachers’ day presents.

(Sidetrack: this plan was hatched about a month ago, Audrey and I being the only conspirators. Gradually more and more people like Chris Chng, Shaun, Lissa and Valerie got involved.)

Back to the present(pun not intended). What we did was we stuffed our teachers’ day notes/letters/etc into a balloon, blew it up and tied it up. Then Audrey and Chris went downstairs to the staffroom to “escort” our “VIP” up, blindfolded. Using wire tie, we made a custom-made needle in the shape of her name. Upon her arrival, the needle was placed in her hand (sharp end facing outwards, duh) and Shaun held the balloon (oh, by the way, we wrote “X marks the spot. Copyright LMH 2005. I’ll explain what LMH stands for.) in front of her. Slowly she was led forward till “POP!” went the balloon and the notes flew out at the same moment as her blindfold was released. Talk about timely execution. She screamed of course, and then calmed down =D. We then gave her two tatty bears, each one holding a letter “M” or “H” to represent her initials, [Haha, we partially granted her wish :) ] a CD with some photos and a powerpoint on it, a bottle of stars (made by Audrey. Ms Liang, thank her ok, she stayed up till 2am) and some other stuff. We let her keep the needle of course. Then an accident happened :D . Lissa pushed the balloon she was holding into Ms Liang’s hands saying, “for you, Ms Liang”. It happened that she was still holding the needle so “POP!” went another balloon. Haha. After that, we went down to the hall to take photos.

And that was the most happening gift presentation of the day, brought to you by LMH. LMH stands for Liang Ming Hui, Ms Liang’s name. It also stands for Local Movement of the Hyperactive. :D So that was Teachers’ Day celebrations.

Sigh. Tomorrow’s my first paper. English Paper 1. It isn’t that bad ’cause I’m ok with english. It’s just, I can’t help thinking yesterday might very well have been the last fun day of my Secondary School life. Can’t help thinking how much I’ll miss FMSS. Well, keep me in prayer, that I’ll manage my time well and persevere for the Os. That’s about it. Tata…
