Studying for photography.
That’s what I’m doing right now. Strange, isn’t it? It feels really weird. I’m studying things that come naturally, decisions that come during the seconds before the shutter release is pressed. Then there are the things you never ever think of when you’re shooting: the parts of your SLR, what the definition of ‘aperture’ is.
Then there was Sec 1 Mass Cell today. I’ve been attending, helping and shooting at (all) four of these so far. The interesting thing to note: I’m not actually a CM for the Sec 1s.
Yet there is something strange. Today while on the way to soccer, I was talking with Kenneth, who also had been going down to help out. Likewise, Kenneth isn’t a CM for Sec 1s, but has been going down to help and support his brother, Keith. (Yes, for all those who don’t know, they’re brothers.) I realised, when talking to him, that I’ve built a bond with some of the Sec 1s.
It’s something that
1) I never expected
2) Happens/happened subconsciously
It’s so unexpected. I never once expected, nor predicted this coming. It’s amazing that I’ve gotten to know some of the Sec 1s, and I pray that as the mass cells go on, I will build more friendships, and that these friendships will strengthen.
Next week, we go to the Botanic Gardens for a CNY special mass cell. I’m eagerly anticipating it, for reasons strange and not-so-strange.
1) I’m renting a 17-40mm f/4L lens to try out, and what better event to try this lens out than this?
2) I hope bonds will be strengthened and new friendships formed during this event.

Anyway, to everyone who’s getting stressed, here’s one phrase that best describes what you have to do, or rather what you should avoid (pardon the singlish):
“cannot lean on own strength. sure fail.” -Joey Asher Tan.
To Jan,
This week promises to be tough. It promises to wear you down, tire you out and stretch your limits.
Then again, what are your limits compared to God’s strength? In Psalm 100, the Word of God says,
“For the LORD is good and his love endures forever;
his faithfulness continues through all generations.” (Psa 100:5)
His grace and love are more than enough, more than you could ever need. Rely on Him. You must, if you are to go through this storm. Know that you are not alone. You have God to lean on.
Remember the story of the footprints? In troubled times, there was only one set of footprints. The man was puzzled and asked God, “why?”.
“When you were in those troubled times, I carried you on my shoulders.”
Trust, and have faith that God will be there for you, and He will carry you through this storm. If you are faithful to Him, He will be faithful to you. His love endures forever. Forever.
Take care, Jan. Get enough rest, and remember, you must rely on God’s strength to pull you through, not your own. On our own, sure fail. With God, all things are possible, through Him who gives me strength.
In His love,
Caleb.
