Tomorrow (Wednesday) (as i write this, tomorrow has become today), The Dawning performs at Dunearn Secondary School’s lower secondary morning assembly. It is The Dawning’s first step into performing in front of a largely pre-Christian group.
We do not know what we will face, so please do keep us in prayer if you read this. Pray for anointing upon our lips, our voices and our hands. The approach for this gig is pre-evangelistic. We aren’t allowed to mention “Christ”, “Jesus” or “God” to the students, but we hope and pray that by our presence and our performing, God will work through us and touch the students.
Pray that the students will feel a tangible difference about the band, the supporting crew, the pastors and our supporting R-agers.
Pray, most importantly, that God will empower all the visiting R-agers to be His witnesses; pray that we will not be stepping in as a mere visiting band, but as deliverers of the good news.
The Devil has lost and has no footing. Our God reigns.

Posted in Uncategorized on July 9, 2007 by caleb. In the past two days, I’ve had various encounters with customer service. Some were pleasant, others weren’t so. Three groups that left me lasting impressions were:
1) McDonalds, Funan: The Digitalife Mall
2) Subway, Far East Shopping Centre
3) MicronDR Disaster & Data Recovery
-
1) McDees
They close at 10pm every day on weekdays. Darren, Lynn and I, after closing shop at John 3:16, went down to the outlet at 9:55pm, when the staff were all almost ready to go home. Half of the lights were switched off, and there was no more food.
When Darren and I approached the counter, we were pleasantly surprised to find that the Shift Manager was still willing to take our order, and asked if his staff could cook for us.
They even waited patiently until we finished our meal before giving us a hearty, “see you again!” and a wave. Truly, service beyond the call of duty.

2) Subway
The motto: eat fresh. The service: friendly. However, one staff member was all it took to tarnish the otherwise positive impression I have of Subway’s Cust. Svc.
Anyone who has had a meal at Subway would be familiar with how you have to fill up your own drink when you buy a meal. As I was looking after everyone’s things, Toh helped me to get my meal. As I stood up to approach the vending machine to fill up my cup, a certain staff member, whom I shall not describe in detail, yelled over from the other end of the counter that it would be “a dollar for refills”.
Knowing very well I was not refilling my drink, I pushed it aside, thinking it must be someone else. The staff member repeated herself once more, not so nicely, and I finally reciprocated that it was not a refill.
How can any staff member be so daft as to assume that I was refilling, just because the staff member did not see me at the counter earlier?

3) MicronDR Disaster & Data Recovery
As some of you know, my hard disk died on me recently (don’t fret; all is not lost). Knowing very well the very important D&D photos (and my schoolwork!) are still on it, I called up MicronDR to find out about the data recovery process.
To put it in a phrase, their service was all about “going the extra mile, and then some”. You see, their office is at Senoko way, but the person I spoke to on the phone actually helped arrange a pick-up of my computer notebook in school. I was greatly impressed.
R-Age Fantenstica Photos – An Official Announcement.
Posted in Photography. on July 4, 2007 by caleb.Hi all R-agers,
As most of you have realised, there were many photos being taken during the 10th Anniversary Dinner & Dance (minus the dancing part) – Fantenstica.
Darren and I are holding on to a large amount of photographs, numbering in the region of 600-900. As such, we are considering the idea of doing something similar to what we usually do at Youth Camps/Retreats/Rhema Conference.
The idea is that Darren and I will compile all our photos into a DVD for your viewing pleasure, for a very small fee, just to cover production costs.
This idea is still subject to the Pastors’ approval, and we will keep you posted once the go-ahead has been given. You may then place your order for the photo-DVD.
Watch this space for teaser photos and further updates on this possible photo-DVD.
Thanks and God bless,
Caleb Kay.
PS: As the photos are undergoing an extensive processing/touch-up, your patience will be much appreciated, as Darren and I ensure that the photos turn out the best that they can. Sorry for any inconvenience caused by this delay.
