Hello. The person, whose blog you are visiting, is Caleb Kay Zhi Hao. You can call him Caleb.
He is a soul in a temporal physical being, living on a less-than-perfect planet we all call Earth. He is assured of life after death, through Christ. He is a Christian living in Singapore and he worships at Grace Assembly Of God.
He spends most of his day studying, currently taking a diploma in Film, Sound and Video (FSV), in Ngee Ann Polytechnic. Yes, Caleb is passionate about such things, as you will find out further down this page.
Caleb is a former-Fairsian. He has spent ten years of his primary and secondary education in Fairfield Methodist School, and claims he would not have chosen any other school to spend these ten years in, on hindsight.
What he does:
Caleb is a photographer, by interest and passion (as will apply for most of the other things he does). He finds great joy in retaining memories through capturing stills of life, and finds it a great, expressive medium for telling stories. He has just over a year in photography experience and his roots are simple and humble. He began when his family acquired their first digital camera, a simple, slim, Casio Exilim. Since then, he has used the camera the most, on holidays and other trips, and brings it everywhere he goes.
Recently, in October of 2006, he picked up Single-Lens-Reflex (SLR) photography, starting off with an EOS A2 film SLR camera, and an old Sigma 28-70mm f/2.8 lens. Then in December, with some monetary help from his grandfather, he made the switch over to the Canon digital SLR camera system, which he currently utilises.
Today, Caleb shoots, unpaid, for church publications and events, and has made photography his personal ministry, and form of service to God, and the church community. His film SLR camera has since been lent to a friend, who is also picking up photography. He currently utilises the Canon EOS 30D digital SLR camera, and Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 and EF 50mm f/1.8 II lenses.
He hopes that in the future, he will be able to upgrade his equipment to include a wider range of better lenses and an external flash. He also hopes to improve his skills, such that he may be able to find work part-time as a photographer.
He is also a videographer. There are many things that photography can express, but there are some things that still images just cannot express. For these things, videography is the answer. In FSV, Caleb has learnt the finer points of telling a story with videos as well.
Caleb has experience in wedding videography, location videography and post-production, live-feed videography and studio camera operations. While he does not own a video camera, his cameras of choice are those from the Canon XL-series.
Caleb does graphics work with relations to digital photography and typography. He has produced his own Christmas cards, and his niche area of work encompasses photograph post-processing, typography, and photo-slideshows. His digital workflow revolves around Canon ImageBrowser, Adobe Photoshop 7 and Apple iPhoto.
Caleb is also comfortable doing video editing. He has used, and currently uses Apple Final Cut Express HD, for most of his video editing tasks.
Caleb is blessed to be gifted in the area of music as well. Yes, he is a musician and plays the drums, serving actively in church. He plays, or should I say, leads worship, through drums, in church for the Youth Ministry, and occasionally plays for the English Ministry, when a drummer is needed.
Like all drummers, Caleb has a preference for certain equipment. He likes and uses Vic Firth and Vater drum sticks and brushes, Zildjian cymbals, and Westone in-ear monitors.
Caleb realises that all his gifts are not his. He believes that he is richly blessed by God, and endowed with such gifts. Thus, he chooses to use his gifts to glorify God. As Joey Asher Tan always says, “When much is given, much is expected”. Caleb’s really grateful that God has given him so much. He knows that much is, and will be, expected of him, and he is ready to use his talents and giftings to glorify God. Will you also choose to use your gifts to glorify God, or will you squander them?
So, what is he really like?
Caleb is largely good-natured and good-tempered. He loves to help as and when he can, usually with a smile, if possible.
Avoid doing anything stupid to him when he is angry. The best you can do, as a good friend, is to cool him down and talk to him.
If he’s moody, Caleb loves to get thoughtful messages from people, and plenty of prayer.
This page is, by no means, exhaustive. Caleb realises the length of this page is none too short, and will stop here.
